As the 2011 high school football season comes to a close it's time to start thinking about the future. Thousands of young high school athletes are competing for positions on college sports teams. If you are one of these athletes or you have a son or daughter with plans of taking their athletic skills to the next level... I have some advice for you. Take the bull by the horns! Unless you already have college scouts beating down your door or your mailbox is overflowing with offers ... you are just one of thousands of athletes in a stack of papers on a recruiter's desk. There are a lot of great high school athletes looking for a shot at playing for a college team and a lot of parents looking for financial support in the process so why not set yourself apart from the pack! The internet is pretty much free, so use it! Create a blog, add all of your contact information, important athletic statistics, academic achievements and of course a highlight video. Send your blog link to the college coaches and your resume just went from the middle of the stack to the top of the pile. You just captivated your audience, the recruiting coach, and not only were they able to read about you but they saw you in action!
I have been creating college recruiting videos for several years and have seen this type of action get results. It's really up to the athlete and their parents to market themselves... no one cares more about your future more than you, so don't wait for a recruiter to pull your name from the stack.

I saw the power of a college recruiting video first hand after the 2010 Howell Highlander football season. The Highlanders had a great season, had great athletes and great coaches. However, most of the athletes were great but there were thousands of other great athletes looking for the same thing. Nine of the athletes had us create them a recruiting video and post it on the internet... all nine were recruited to play college football along with scholarship money. That's Huge!

Again... take the bull by the horns!
